I Deleted My Second Brain, Too

Instead of trying to copy an idea, I directly stole it. The essay by JA Westenberg about demolishing your second brain resonated deeply because it’s true. I did it, too. I deleted my carefully constructed digital mind for reasons I’ll explain below.

I’m tired.

And I suspect you are, too.

You are equally nauseated by the endless rant about how, by doing this “one thing,” you can ascend to some mythical level of productivity.

These clickbait masquerades of genius. Those evangelists shoving hollow life-changing hacks, make it sound as if there’s just one missing screw in your existence. Tighten it, and just like that, you’re successful and fulfilled.

But is this really what happens?

We know it’s a lie. Yet we still click. We still eagerly skim the video, hoping for an epiphany. However, we eventually discover, again, that the grand finale is the intellectual equivalent of an 80s traveling salesman cliché. A “you can do it” slogan that shifts all the responsibility back onto you. No secret. No magic. Only work. Work we thought we could somehow skip.
